I am the second non family owner of this truck. I was purchased new from the Ford dealer in Kaufman,TX. It remained in that area until 1986 when it was brought to Kansas by the owners son. I bought it about a year ago. At that time it had not been used for some time. I changed the oil and filter, flushed the radiator, cleaned the carburetor, adjusted the points and timing, drained and flushed the gas tank. It started and it runs well. I have too many projects and have decided to sell.
I have maintenance records for 1986. I also have the original initial owner ID plate (what GM calls the Protecto-Plate) .
Body
It is rusty and there is not a straight panel without rust as seen in the photos. The original color is B Caribbean turquoise. Over the years bondo repairs have been made. The floors have metal plates but they have not been properly repaired. The driver door hinge and latch posts were very rusty and the door sagged. I had both posts and hinges on the driver door replaced as well as the rocker. Both doors open, close and latch. The passenger door did not need repair but the rocker is rusted and full of bondo. The fenders have not been cut. The front and rear glass was replaced with new gaskets/seals.
Interior
The driver side seat springs are broken and a field patch has been done. It will need repair and upholstery. The after market electric windshield wipers were removed when the windshield was replaced. They are included. It has functioning turn signals and head lights. I have the door panels but they are not installed.
Engine and driveline
The engine is an inline 170 cu in 6 that is not original. I is a Jasper remanufactured one that was installed in 9/28/07 at 186,304 miles at a cost of 00. Current odometer is 00979 so it has around 15,000 miles on it. I did a compression test at the time of the service. 1-170, 2-162, 3-155, 4-155, 5-155, 6-160. There is no choke. It does start easily and runs well.
The column shift was moved to the floor decades ago and it shifts easily. The H pattern is tricky. Upper left is 1st and lower right is second. Third is upper right and reverse is lower left. The spring mechanism easily misses reverse when shifting from first to second. The clutch rod is completely adjusted out and it engages just off the floor. The differentials were topped off and make no unusual noises. It has a 4:11 rear end. It shifts into 4WD high and low without problem The left front lockout
has been replaced with a Warn unit. The right is stock. I do have an extra Warn unit
included.
Brakes
They barely work and are not safe but they will stop the truck. They will need a complete rebuild. Tires are old and will need to be replaced.
Suspension
Needs everything.
I’m sure I’ve missed something. Basically, it needs a complete restoration. I think the frame is solid. It is a complete and original truck even though the engine is not matching. It can be driven "as is" if the steering, suspension, and brakes are repaired. I don’t like to sell anything especially cars or trucks. I do the best I can with photos that are hopefully accurate with honest descriptions. Please ask any question. Ideally the future buyer should inspect the car before purchase. This is my first Bronco and I am not an expert. The car is sold “as is/where is” without warranty. Once the auction has ended and the price is established, there will be no further negotiation. The truck can be driven on a trailer but it's too unsafe to drive further. I will assure that the buyer will have more information about the car than I was told prior to my purchase. Payment will be by wire transfer within 7 days of the end of the auction. I have taken many photos that can be viewed on Photo Bucket. Contact me for the link. The truck is located in rural Lawrence, KS 66047. Thank you for your interest.
